Diversity of Field Plots Related to Diversity & Population of Fish in Lake
ASK: How does the diversity of the field plots alongside a lake’s edge relate to the diversity of fish in the lake?
IMAGINE: Brainstorm - is it the numbers or the types of plant species (or both) alongside a lake’s bank that make the biggest impact of fish species and population in the lake.
CREATE:
a. Students take field plot count in 10 bank/ lake edge areas (species count; plant count)
b. Students review and apply
-MSU data of fish population and species in the lake
-MI DNR data on woody habitat added to banks of the lake
