ASK: How can a student take an active role to protect an endangered species?
IMAGINE: Brainstorm- What are some animal and plant species in Michigan that are protected or endangered?
PLAN:
a. Students research and choose different protected / endangered species in MI
b. Students learn about various habitat restoration projects
c. Full group experiences a Protected Species at Wilderness SP talk: scheduled time at Wilderness State Park rangers or park volunteers
d. Students design protective enclosures for the Plovers - nesting
e. Students design informational signs about a protected species/ habitat
f. Students choose to design protective habitat / signs for the Pitcher’s Thistle or Pitcher Plant
